Namaste π and welcome, fellow Jaipurites and travelers alike, to Jaipur Insider β your go-to source for navigating the vibrant streets π, hidden treasures π, and rich culture π of the Pink City! Having grown up in Jaipur, living in the Pink City has given me the chance to explore and uncover hidden gems that most tourists miss. πΈ
Letβs dive into the most photogenic places in Jaipur that are perfect for capturing unforgettable moments and making your Instagram pop! #CaptureJaipur”
1. Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) : It was built to allow royal women to observe street festivals and everyday life in the city without being seen themselves. It has 953 small windows or ‘jharokhas. These windows were designed in such a way that they allowed cool air to pass through the palace, providing natural ventilation in the hot desert climate of Rajasthan.
Pro Tip: Head to the Wind View Cafe/Tattoo Cafe right across the street early morning or late afternoon for a perfect shot of you with the palace in the background while enjoying a cup of chai.
Opening hours: 09:00 am β 04:30 pm for Hawa Mahal. The cafes across the street open at 8:00 am. The Wind View Cafe closes at 8:00 pm, while The Tattoo Cafe stays open until 11:00 pm.
Entrance Fee: Indian Visitors: βΉ50, Foreign Visitors: βΉ700, Kids up to 7 years are free.

2. City Palace: Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century π°, the City Palace is a stunning blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles π¨. Today, it continues to serve as the residence of the royal family, who occupy a private section of the palace π. Look up at the yellow building’s topβif you spot two flags β³flying, it means the King is in residence.
The four seasonal gates of the City Palace are Instagram-famous. But I think the best part is the blue room, Chhavi Niwas, which you can visit for an extra 2500 Rupees. During your visit to the City Palace, keep an eye out for these remarkable spots πΈ.
Pro Tip: Purchase a combined ticket for City Palace and Jantar Mantar to save money on entrance fees.
Opening hours β°: Daily from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm (day visit) & 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (night visit).
Entrance Fee π΅: Indian Visitors: βΉ200, Foreign Visitors: βΉ700, Chandra Mahal Additional Fee: Indians: βΉ2,000, Foreigners: βΉ3,000.

3. Amber Fort: Amber Fort, also known as Amer ka Kila, Amber Palace, Amber Fort, and Amer Palace, is a stunning palace located in the town of Amer, just 11 kilometers from Jaipur. π° Built in the 16th century, it served as the home for the royal family before they moved to the City Palace in Jaipur.
One cool fact: Amer Fort has the third longest wall in the world, stretching over 7 miles! Imagine the stories those walls could tell. π
Getting to the fort is part of the adventure. You can stroll up a winding path (free, takes approximately 10 minutes), take an electric golf cart (INR 40 per person), hire a jeep (INR 500 for up to 5 passengers), drive your own car or taxi to the back entrance, or ride an elephant (INR 1,100 per person). However, while the idea of an elephant ride up to the fort may seem alluring, it’s important to consider the well-being of these majestic creatures. π Opting for alternative modes of transportation is not only eco-friendly but also ensures we prioritize the welfare of the elephants.
While Ganesh Pol may be the Instagram star, my favorites within Amer Fort are the serene Sheesh Mahal and the tranquil Kesar Kyari. And don’t miss the secret tunnel linking Amer Fort to Jaigarh Fort; it served as a strategic escape route for the royal family during times of conflict, allowing them to move safely between the two forts without being detected by enemies. π΅οΈββοΈ

4. Panna Meena ka Kund (Stepwell): Craving a cool drink, you stumble upon Panna Meena ka Kund, a hidden gem in Jaipur that most tourists miss. Excitement turns to amusement as the stairs unfold into a playful maze of zigzagging steps, where the stunning geometry and each step seem to play hopscotch with your imagination. Located just 1 kilometer from Amer Fort, you can easily walk here after your visit, or it’s a quick 10-minute drive. Here’s the Google Maps location to help you find your way!
Built-in the 16th century to collect monsoon rains and preserve water for the drier months, Panna Meena ka Kund also served as a social gathering place for locals to chat, seek shade from the heat βοΈ, and collect water for washing clothes and bathing π. Its design allowed people to access water at any level as the pool’s water levels fluctuated.
Want that perfect Panna Meena ka Kund pic? Arrive early for serenity π , or ask a guard for permission to sit by the well or climb the stairs πΈ. Access is now restricted π« to help preserve the monument after incidents where people fell into the basin.

5. Jal Mahal (Water Palace): Jal Mahal is a must-see gem in Jaipur, whether you’re a history buff, a photography fanatic, or simply looking for a peaceful spot to chill. Make a quick pitstop on the way back to Jaipur at Jal Mahal, the “Water Palace” ππ° built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. It served as the summer palace of the Royal Family, offering a cool retreat thanks to the lake’s breezes π¬οΈ.
Just remember, no entry allowedβso no sneaking in! π« Instead, enjoy the view from the shoreline or hop on a boat. Trust me, this pitstop will make your Instagram followers jealous. πΈβ¨
Pro Tip: Bring a zoom lens to zoom in on all the cool palace details from the lakeside. Check it out at sunrise or sunset for some truly magical shotsβthe reflection in the lake is straight-up stunning! Personally, Iβm all about sunset because letβs be real, mornings are not my thing! π

6. Nahargarh Fort: Jaipur’s Not-So-Secret Sunset Spot (with a Safety Spoiler Alert!) :
Imagine this: you’re perched on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the vibrant city of Jaipur like a real-life superhero. That’s Nahargarh Fort for you – once part of a powerful defense trio with Amer and Jaigarh Forts, now a rockstar fort famous for its legendary sunsets. π
You might see photos of people casually strolling the fort walls, but here’s the truth: that drop on the other side is no joke! For a heart-stopping view (minus the potential heart attack), grab a spot on the viewing platforms or head to Padao Cafe. π° Cafe offers stunning views, but manage your expectations for food. π½οΈ
Pro Tip: Nahargarh Fort is an adventure waiting to happen. Just remember, safety first, selfies second! β οΈπΈ

7. Gatore Ki Chhatriyan
Planning a trip to Amer Fort, the majestic gem of Jaipur? π Why not add another historical gem to your itinerary? π° Gatore Ki Chhatriyan, the serene complex housing royal cenotaphs, is just a short distance away!
This complex of cenotaphs (chhatris) serves as the final resting place for the members of the royal family of Jaipur. π Unlike the bustling tourist spots, Gatore Ki Chhatriyan offers a peaceful escape. πΏ It’s a perfect place to relax, soak in the beauty of the chhatris, and capture some unique photos. πΈ
Pro Tip: Start your day early to avoid crowds at Amer Fort. Then, head to Gatore Ki Chhatriyan for a peaceful afternoon exploring the chhatris and soaking in the history.

8. Patrika Gate : Quick Color Burst Before Takeoff π
It’s a splash of color with beautiful paintings showcasing the Pink City’s history. While it might not be a history lesson in itself, it’s a guaranteed Instagram-worthy stop. It’s mainly the entrance to Jawahar Circle Garden (Asia’s largest circular park).
Pro Tip: Flying out of Jaipur? Snap a quick pic at the colorful Patrika Gate (5 min away) for a vibrant farewell to the Pink City! πΈ
Opening hours β°: All day.
Entrance Fee π΅: Free.

9. Albert Hall Museum
I’ve never been inside the Royal Albert Hall, but I know it’s an iconic London venue surrounded by pigeons, attracting locals for photo shoots. Scatter some grains, grab your camera, and BAM! πΈπ¦ Free, hilarious mid-air pigeon photo shoot!
Pro Tip: Pigeons or Lights? You pick! Scatter birdseed for free mid-air pigeon pics (hilarious!), or come at night for a dazzling light show on the iconic facade. β¨
Opening hours β°: All day.
Entrance Fee π΅: Free.

10. Galta Ji Temple
Over 3000 years old, this temple is not just a site of worship π, but also a sanctuary for nature and wildlife πΏ, particularly a large population of sacred monkeys π that roam freely around. Although they don’t live within the temple itself, but in nearby mountains ποΈ, visiting later ensures a better chance to see them. This sacred site is renowned for its natural springs π§ and holy water tanks. The water flows down, filling a series of holy water tanks called kinds.
Many pilgrims come here to take a dip in the water, clearing their souls and washing away sins. Others seek the reputed healing properties of the mineral-rich springs, while admiring the unique architecture and enjoying interactions with the sacred monkeys. Personally, I’m drawn to the serene atmosphere and the therapeutic benefits of the mineral-rich waters. ποΈπ§
Please avoid snacking openly π«π and flashing cameras πΈ at the monkeys to prevent startling them; they tend to prefer leaves πΏ over bananas π. These monkeys are family-oriented π and follow a strict schedule: one troop enjoys temple snacks before heading off to the mountains ποΈ, making way for the next crew to munch on greens π₯¬.
Pro Tip: Combine your visit with a trip to Amer Fort and Gatore Ki Chhatriyan for a full day of exploring Jaipurβs historical and spiritual sites.
Opening hours β°: Daily from 5:00 am – 9:00 pm.
